ABOUT
Jared Fenton is the founder and CEO of The Reflect Organization, a national nonprofit dedicated to improving mental wellness among college students. Established in 2015 during his undergraduate years at the University of Pennsylvania, Reflect provides safe forums for students to engage in open and honest discussions, aiming to combat loneliness and promote authenticity, self-love, and allyship on campuses. Jared's leadership has been recognized by Forbes, naming him to their 30 Under 30 list in the Social Impact category.
BEFORE RICHES
During his freshman year at the University of Pennsylvania, Jared observed a pervasive culture where students felt compelled to project an image of effortless perfection, often referred to as "Penn Face." This phenomenon led to feelings of isolation and loneliness among students. Motivated by these observations and personal experiences, including the loss of a classmate to suicide and assisting a friend in crisis, Jared conducted the first mixed-methods research into "Penn Face." His findings highlighted the need for platforms that encourage genuine self-expression and mutual support among students.
HOW SHE MADE 1st MILLION
In response to the challenges identified through his research, Jared founded The Reflect Organization in 2015. The organization began at the University of Pennsylvania and has since expanded to multiple colleges and universities nationwide. Reflect hosts monthly dinners and discussions, providing students with spaces to share their experiences and support one another. The organization's programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of each campus, fostering a culture of openness and mental wellness. Under Jared's leadership, Reflect has raised over $1 million to support its initiatives and has been featured in various media outlets for its impact on student mental health.
