ABOUT
Rebecca Rosenberg is an engineer, entrepreneur, and advocate dedicated to enhancing accessibility for individuals with moderate visual impairments. As the founder and CEO of ReBokeh Vision Technologies, Inc., she has developed innovative assistive technologies aimed at empowering users to optimize their functional vision. Rebecca's personal experience with oculocutaneous albinism (OCA1), a condition affecting pigmentation and vision, has profoundly influenced her commitment to creating user-centric solutions in the assistive technology space.
BEFORE RICHES
Rebecca's journey into assistive technology was deeply personal. Diagnosed with oculocutaneous albinism shortly after birth, she faced challenges due to the lack of tailored assistive tools for her specific needs. During her time at Bucknell University, she began conceptualizing solutions that would later evolve into ReBokeh Vision Technologies. Her academic pursuits at Johns Hopkins further honed her expertise, leading her to contribute to global health initiatives like VectorCam, aimed at combating malaria in sub-Saharan Africa.
HOW SHE MADE 1st MILLION
In 2019, recognizing the gap in assistive technologies for individuals with moderate visual impairments, Rebecca founded ReBokeh Vision Technologies from her dorm room. The company's flagship product is a mobile application that allows users to customize visual settings—such as contrast, color hue, zoom, and lighting—leveraging their device's camera feed. This innovation empowers users to enhance their visual experience in real-time. Under Rebecca's leadership, ReBokeh has formed partnerships with institutions like the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery, providing free access to the app for visitors. Her dedication and pioneering work have earned her recognition, including a spot on Forbes' 30 Under 30 list.
